Schnipper’s Supports Marriage Equality USA!

Just found this on Schnipper’s Facebook page and can’t offer them enough kudos for taking this action!

Help us support Marriage Equality.

Throughout the month of August, we will donate $1.00 from every purchase of a Schnipper’s Chicken Filet Sandwich to Marriage Equality USA (a non-profit whose mission is to secure legally recognized civil marriage equality for all).

A truly good Chicken Filet Sandwich would always be in favor of Marriage Equality. Ours is the best you’ll ever have since its made from fresh chicken breasts and hand dipped to order in our seasoned corn flour blend and buttermilk. It’s super crispy and it’s gluten free!

The sandwich is tasty – Marriage Equality is timely.

Available at both Schnippers locations:
620 8th Avenue at 41st Street
23 East 23rd Street (between Madison & Park)

This is, no doubt, in reaction to Chik-fil-A’s support of anti-equality groups through their “charitable” arm, WinShape… and their president, Dan Cathy’s recent bigoted remarks (h/t to Jeremy Hooper at GoodAsYou.org).

According to Equality Matters:

In 2010 alone, WinShape received $8,067,161 from Chick-fil-A Inc.

In the same year, WinShape donated $1,974,380 to a number of anti-gay groups:

Marriage & Family Foundation: $1,188,380
Fellowship of Christian Athletes: $480,000
National Christian Foundation: $247,500
New Mexico Christian Foundation: $54,000
Exodus International: $1,000
Family Research Council: $1,000
Georgia Family Council: $2,500

So, a big round of kudos to Schnipper’s for standing up for what is right.  I know I’ll be stopping by to order their Chicken Filet Sandwich many times in the month of August and, if you live in NYC or are passing through, hope you’ll do the same!
